About us
The city of Worms (82,000 inhabitants) is situated in the heart of the metropolitan area Rhine-Neckar. It takes special pride in its medieval history, having been the location for much of the anonymous saga of the Nibelungen and having hosted Martin Luther's trial.
In the year 1977/78, the Teachers Training College in Worms was transformed into the Division Ludwigshafen/Worms of the University of Applied Sciences Rhineland-Palatinate. The courses it offered were so popular that the number of students rapidly grew to reach 1,200 within 5 years.
In accordance with the Rhineland-Palatinate University of Applied Sciences Law, the Division Worms acquired its independent status and became Worms University of Applied Sciences (UAS) on September 1, 1996.
At Worms UAS, there are currently about 2,700 students enrolled in three Faculties. International students make up about 20 % of the student body. All academic degree courses in business administration and management presently run under restricted admission (internal numerus clausus). On a regular basis, the number of applications for enrolment exceeds the number available by a factor of seven to ten.
The teaching body consists of 59 full-time professors and lecturers as well as about 100 part-time lecturers.
Worms UAS offers ten degree courses in the field of economics and four in the field of information technology. Specialisation for specific professional requirements starts as early as in term 1.
The international orientation of the courses
International Business Administration (IBA),
International Management (IM) and
Distribution Management (HM) is emphasised, among others, through the offer of studies and practical training abroad, or even through a mandatory semester abroad at a partner university.
The academic courses
International Distribution Management with Enterprise Cooperation (HM iP) and
International Management with Enterprise Cooperation (IM iP) are offered in cooperation with an external enterprise.
Worms UAS is particularly profiled through the degree course
Taxation, as such unique in Germany, preparing students to excel as tax professionals in the area of tax consultation and in taxation departments of enterprises.
Teaching in the degree course
